Overview

The LPN Nurse Supervisor serves as the designated person in charge of the shift to which they are assigned. They are to oversee all that occurs in the Community during that shift, assess and handle situations and report them to administration per protocol.

JOB DUTIES

 

Resident Care

  • Administers medications as assigned
  • Supervises and assists with duties that require, per policy, a nurse to be present or perform the task
  • Performs hands-on resident care as needed

 

Supervises Care Specialists and Medication Managers on Assigned Shift

  • Offers mentoring, coaching and disciplinary action of team members as required
  • Makes meal time assignments for team as appropriate for work load
  • Ensures activities, when assigned to care team, are occurring as planned
  • Circulates the building to offer support, assistance and guidance to care team

 

Resident Care Oversight

  • Ensures resident care is occurring according to care plan and in a quality, caring manner
  • Identifies safety concerns and acts proactively to remedy

 

Issue Resolution

  • Addresses family questions or issues that may arise during shift
  • Intervenes as necessary
  • Works to cover call outs of staff from any department during shift
  • Communicates with administration during or after hours per protocol

 

Administrative

  • Ensures shift crossover report occurs
  • Performs assignments made by Director of Health and Wellness, e.g.; resident assessments
  • Maintains documentation related to team and Human Resources requirements and discusses with Director of Health and Wellness
  • Accepts and works to cover staff callouts that may occur during the shift

 

Other

  • Regularly rounds the building to ensure security
  • Ensures resident living spaces are neat and tidy both in suite and in common areas
  • Carries cordless phone at all times when in the building
  • Accepts all pharmacy deliveries during the shift
  • Fully familiar with the Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Plan content and is the lead person on shift to facilitate the emergency process

Qualifications

  • At least six (6) months of experience with care of seniors in a healthcare environment is required
  • Current First Aide and CPR Certification required
  • State-specific Licensed Practical Nurse, without sanctions, required
  • Management experience preferred
